I just posted a project, now what happens?

Your custom experience will vary depending on whether or not your project is public (i.e. made viewable to all CustomMade makers) or private (i.e. sent directly to a specific maker). Learn more about the differences between public and private projects.

If you posted a public project:

Our community of expert makers will review your request. When a maker is interested in working with you, he or she will send you a message. At this point you should take a look at the maker's profile and determine whether or not they would be a good fit for your project. You can respond to messages from as many makers as you'd like -- in fact, we encourage you to ask questions and clarify the details of your project with the makers who seem suitable to you.

Once you've decided to proceed with a maker, send them a message letting them know that you would like to review a proposal. The maker will then submit a proposal to you that includes pricing and delivery information. You'll be able to review the proposal before accepting or rejecting it. Once you've accepted a proposal, the maker will begin bringing your project to life.

If you posted a private project:

The maker who received your project will review your request and send you a message with questions, ideas, and suggestions. Once you have ironed out the details of your project, the maker will send you a formal proposal that includes pricing and delivery information. You'll be able to review the proposal before accepting or rejecting it. Once you've accepted a proposal, the maker will begin bringing your project to life.
